SHAH ALAM, Feb 24 — The Meteorological Department of Malaysia (MetMalaysia) has issued continuous rain warning at severe and alert levels for Klang Valley as well as most states until Saturday.
In a 1.30pm post on Facebook today, the agency issued an alert-level for continuous heavy rain warning for the whole of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka.
A similar situation is also expected in parts of Perak (Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu and Marang) and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru) until Saturday, February 26.
While severe-level continuous heavy rain warning was issued in several districts in Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang (Jerantut, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin) and Johor (Mersing).
Continuous heavy rain warning (danger) is issued when continuous torrential rain is expected to occur with rainfall exceeding 150 millimetres (mm)/day within 24 hours.
While continuous heavy rain warning (severe) is issued when continuous heavy rain is expected to occur with rainfall exceeding 60 mm within six hours.
A continuous heavy rain warning (alert) is issued when monitoring shows that heavy rain is expected to occur within one to three days, or continuous rain/thunderstorms are occurring but have not reached the severe warning category.
