KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — Malaysia recorded a slight increase in new Covid-19 cases, at 21,315 today compared with 21,072 cases reported yesterday, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Dr Noor Hisham, via his official Twitter account, said the cumulative number of cases now stands at 3,061,550.
He said 99.59 per cent, or 21,228, of the total new cases were in Categories One and Two, while 87 cases, or 0.41 per cent, were in Categories Three, Four, and Five.
Categories One and Two refer to patients who have no symptoms and mild symptoms, Category Three involves lung infections, Category Four involves lung infections and requiring oxygen, while Category Five refers to critical cases with organ damage and requiring ventilator assistance.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham, in a statement, said of 21,315 new cases today, 81 were imported cases and 21,234 local transmissions, while 199 cases were being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 115 of these requiring respiratory assistance.
He added that a total of 8,517 recovered cases were recorded, making the cumulative number of recoveries now 2,860,954.
A total of 17 new clusters were identified, with 435 active clusters currently in the country.

Dr Noor Hisham said the country’s infectivity rate (Rt) was 1.43, with Labuan recording the highest Rt of 1.90, followed by Sarawak (1.61) and Sabah (1.60).
