SHAH ALAM, Jan 11 — The use of the Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) mobile application helps road users reduce the risk of their vehicle being issued a compound.

A trader, Ashikin Abu Bakar, 41, said she had been using the app’s digital coupons since last year and it made it easier for her to check the parking duration.

"Compared to the scratch and display manual coupons, sometimes we forgot the parking duration, but with this application, you easily check when it ends and extend it, thus reducing the potential of getting a compound’” she told SelangorKini.

A salesman who only wanted to be known as Keong, 45, said he is clearing all the paper parking coupons he had bought.

“I bought the scratch and display manual coupons in large quantities to facilitate my daily affairs because my job requires me to meet a lot of people.

"The implementation of e-coupons is very good because it is easier and there is no need to go to the store to buy parking coupons anymore, so right now I am finishing the coupons so that there is no need to redeem it," he said.

The Selangor is phasing out the use of parking coupons and has enforced e-coupons via its SSP app, which is available on the App Store and Google Play Store.

The public is allowed to use the parking coupons until March.

The unused parking coupons can be redeemed at the respective local council office after March.
