SHAH ALAM, Jan 8 — Various short-term and long-term proposals to tackle flood issues in Selangor will be reviewed by the state government next month, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the proposals are being compiled by state executive officer for infrastructure Izham Hashim, focusing on critical localities such as Taman Sri Muda.

“We have received proposals on developing a smart tunnel as well as reviewing the allocation for the river. All of the proposals will be assessed and tabled soon.

“This matter is also being discussed with the Federal government,” he said when met after the Post-flood Mega Cleanup Programme in Taman Sri Muda here, today.

Amirudin added some of the proposals were from the Drainage and Irrigation Department, the Selangor Water Management Authority and several private sectors.

The torrential rain from December 17 until 19 had resulted in double the rainfall compared to the previous high of 180 millimetres and caused severe flooding in several locations in Selangor.
