KUALA LANGAT, Jan 4 — Some 40 flood victims are still placed at two temporary relief centres (PPS) in the district, following heavy rains since yesterday.
Morib assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin said the victims, from 12 families, are located at Balai Raya Kampung Banting and Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Kelanang.
“Due to heavy rain and the high-tide phenomenon the houses in Kampung Sungai Nangka and Kampung Kelanang were inundated, but not as high as before.
"We have taken several steps to address this, including providing pumps to suck out flood water and reduce the overflow in residents' homes," he said after inspecting the flood victims at the two PPS.
Hasnul added that most of the drainage system in his constituency is in good condition, but needs to be improved in Kampung Kelanang, Kanchong Darat, and Kanchong Tengah.
Yesterday, the water level of the Langat River in Bukit Changgang, Kuala Langat exceeded the danger level (red) when it recorded a reading of 4.34 metres (m) above the normal 4.20m.
