SHAH ALAM, Jan 4 — The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) Dapur Ehsan programme has provided 14,000 food packs to flood victims, says its chief executive officer Dr Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi.

He said the food packs were distributed to flood victims in Taman Sri Muda, Padang Jawa and Puchong, including evacuees at the temporary relief centres (PPS).

“The programme took place from December 20 until 31, involving a cost of over RM30,000. We prepared up to 1,500 food packs a day.

“This helped to ease flood victims’ burden as most of their home appliances were submerged in floodwaters. Hence, we help prepare some food for them,” he told SelangorKini, yesterday.

He added the programme also received donations from other parties either in cash form, cooking equipment or fresh goods.

“Among the contributors include the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad, Selangor wet market traders and individuals.

“The cooking work was also assisted by employees of government-linked companies (GLCs) as well as volunteers from Lembah Jaya and Sungai Tua Wanita Berdaya Centre,” he said.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari asked the GLCs to come forward and donate to the programme to ensure more flood victims get enough food.
