DID: Two damaged bunds in Kuala Langat repaired by this evening

SHAH ALAM, Jan 3 — The repair and fortification of the bunds in Kampung Labohan Dagang and Kampung RTB Bukit Changgang in Kuala Langat was completed by today evening, said the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID)

Harian Metro quoted the DID as saying four machines were mobilised to each location for the repairs, after reports of the bunds breaking were received at 10am.

It said the bunds' erosion measured between three to four metres in length, which occurred after continuous rain and the high tide phenomenon which affected Kuala Langat district yesterday.

"DID immediately conducted repair works and strengthening of the river bunds. At the present, the river water overflow in the Langat River alignment area is under control.

"The bund repair works at Kampung Labohan Dagang is now fully completed, while the works at Rancangan Tanah Belia (RTB) Bukit Changgang is expected to be completed by this evening," said the department.

DID advised residents in the flood-affected area to remain vigilant and comply with instructions from the authorities.

"Please seek information and warnings from time to time at publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my, or the Facebook page Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Malaysia, and the Twitter handle DID_Malaysia," it said.

Yesterday the department said the high tide phenomenon is expected to occur over the course of four days, starting yesterday until Wednesday (January 5)

Among the areas at risk include Selangor's Klang, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam, and Kuala Selangor, Kuala Muda in Kedah, Bagan Datuk in Perak, as well as Batu Pahat and Pontian in Johor.
