SHAH ALAM, Dec 27 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy showers, and strong winds in seven Selangor districts and five other states until 6pm today.
In a Facebook post earlier today, MetMalaysia said the affected areas in Selangor include Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, and Sepang.
The warning was also issued for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu) and Perak (Batang Padang and Muallim).
It included Sarawak, and covers Kapit (Kapit and Bukit Mabong), Bintulu, and Limbang.
The warning was also issued for Sabah in Pedalaman (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Keningau, and Tambunan), Pantai Barat and Sandakan (Tongod).
The statement said warnings were issued when there were signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 millimetres per hour, that were close to or expected to occur in excess of an hour.
"A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a period, not exceeding six hours for a single issue," it said.
