KUALA LANGAT, Dec 26 — The RM1,000 aid provided to families of victims affected by floods in Selangor is expected to be fully handed out by the end of January next year, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He explained the application procedure will be announced tomorrow, to make it more convenient for the public to obtain immediate aid.
"We have already saved lives, and now the cleaning and recovery process of affected areas is underway. In addition food aid is also being continued.
"So for this month we expect the RM1,000 aid will be carried out, and everyone should get it by the end of January," Amirudin said after his post-flood ground visit to Taman Langat Utama, Masjid Ar Rahman, Sekolah Kelas al-Quran dan Fardu Ain, and Integrasi Rancangan Tanah Belia Bukit Changgang earlier today.
On December 21, the state government announced a RM100 million allocation to kickstart the Selangor Bangkit programme, following the series of floodings in Selangor last week.
Asides from infrastructural recovery, the Menteri Besar said the allocation encompasses RM10,000 in aid to the families of flood victims who perished.
The RM1,000 in aid will be provided to flood victims' heads of households, which is meant for them to restore their homes and replace damaged goods.
