SHAH ALAM, Dec 19 — The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has expressed his sadness and grief over the worst flood disaster that is hitting most districts in the state.
His Royal Highness was also worried and concerned about the difficulties faced by the people after watching the photos and videos of the affected areas.
“I was informed that many locations were affected and cut off due to flooded roads, as well as residential areas that have been hit by the most extraordinary floods to date," he said in a statement on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook today.
The Selangor Ruler also called for a more comprehensive action plan to be updated to prepare for unexpected floods.
“This is so that a quick response can be taken and the welfare and well-being of the people are always taken care of,” he said.
His Royal Highness also wanted the respective authorities to expedite assistance to all the affected areas.
Sultan Sharafuddin also directed that the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) continue to provide assistance to flood relief centres and identify the critical situation of the people.
However, the Selangor Ruler was moved to see the spirit of cooperation showed by community members and support groups who helped each other when faced with a very difficult situation.
“I prayed to Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala that this flood disaster would end soon and all the affairs of the people would be eased and return to normal,” he said.
