SHAH ALAM, Nov 30 — The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) has recorded RM1.13 billion of negotiated transaction value in the seven years since it began.
State executive councillor for trade and investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the figures were recorded from the first edition of SIBS in 2015 until the latest instalment of the summit two weeks ago.
He said throughout the period, SIBS has provided a total of 2,951 booths for small and medium entrepreneurs.
“The event also recorded 95,451 cumulative visitors — local and international — during the same period.
“For last year’s edition alone, the event which was held virtually due to the Covid-19 outbreak managed to gather some 286 entrepreneurs and 175,000 digital visitors throughout its duration.
“The virtual international summit also recorded a transaction value of RM1 million that was achieved during the virtual business matching session,” Teng said in response to a query from Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman Datuk Rizam Ismail on SIBS, during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.
With the theme ‘Selangor the Gateway to Asean’, the hybrid regional annual summit this year was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from November 18 to 21.
The physical event featured 500 booths and could be accessed virtually via www.selangorbusinesshub.my, which showcased nearly 800 booths.
SIBS 2021 features dedicated expos on four main sectors — food & beverages; medical products and services; research & development and innovation; and industrial parks.
