SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 — The Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax), introduced in June with a RM200 million allocation, is an apt move to tackle Covid-19, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Despite the initial backlash when the programme was first announced, especially over the vaccine procurement, he said the state government nonetheless continues to stride on.
“Oftentimes we were condemned and criticised over various issues. However we continue to be persistent and focused on doing our job in line with the law, as well as with the state’s civil servants’ charter and commitment.
“While other states are still waiting for their vaccine supplies, Selangor came out with our own allocation amounting to RM200 million. The vaccination programme has helped to speed up the recovery process and moved the state into Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan,” Amirudin said in an audio clip uploaded on Facebook.
The audio is part of Amirudin’s speech during the Selangor Civil Servant Assembly, which was recently held in Shah Alam.
On Tuesday, he said Selvax has complemented the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) by administering the Covid-19 vaccine to over 75 per cent of adult populations in Selangor.
Klang Valley and Selangor have recorded over 89 per cent of the population vaccinated, with Selvax contributing over 370,000 doses to the industrial workers and communities.
