SHAH ALAM, Nov 5 — The lorry driver and the sub-contractor involved in the 'flying canvas' incident on Wednesday appeared at the Sepang police district headquarters this morning.

Harian Metro reported Sepang deputy police chief Supt Md Noor Aehwan Mohammad as saying the pair were called in to facilitate investigations into the incident, which occurred at Kilometer 33.5 Jalan Puchong, near the exit heading to Kajang, near Sepang.

He added the driver cooperated with the police when filing a report, with the case still under investigation.

"The police are still tracing the two victims involved, to facilitate investigations," Noor Aehwan said.

Both the motorcyclist and passenger have yet to file a police report, and it is believed they are foreign citizens.

Yesterday KDEB Waste Management said it would take stern action, including terminating the sub-contractor company involved, over the incident.

The incident is reported to have occurred when the ropes tying the tarpaulin sheet to the truck were disconnected, flying off and enveloping two men on a motorcycle, causing them to lose vision and control, and resulted in the accident.

Footage of the accident obtained from a car dashcam showed the motorcyclist and his passenger, blinded by the covering, nearly ramming into the tyres of an oil tanker. Both managed to narrowly avoid being crushed at the last minute.
