Kuala Selangor earliest district to have water restored

SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 — Kuala Selangor became the first district to have its water supply restored following the scheduled water disruption, at 5pm today.

According to Air Selangor's website, out of the 168 areas in the district affected, nine of them recorded a recovery between 50 to 75 per cent.

The areas include Tanjong Keramat, Taman Yayasan, Taman Assam Jawa, Taman Murni and Jalan Kilang Padi or Jalan Lengkongan, Taman Seri Penambang, Ijok Batu 4, Ijok Batu 7, Bukit Melawati, and Taman Alam.

The water supply for the Sungai Buloh Hospital in the Petaling district has also been restored, by up to 50 per cent.

Earlier today Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari stated the water supply would start being restored by 5pm, ahead of the projected schedule.

The maintenance and upgrade works on the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant's (SSP1 WTP) critical assets, which began yesterday, affects 998 areas in the Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat, and Kuala Selangor districts.

The scheduled water disruption, which runs from October 14 to 16, sees Air Selangor prepare 18 public water pipes and mobilise 105 water tankers to the affected areas.

Four water filling stations have also been opened for commercial customers, where they can make purchases using tanker lorries.
