State to implement Vaksin Selangor for teens in nearest future

SHAH ALAM, Oct 10 — The Vaksin Selangor (Selvax) programme for teenagers involving 150,000 doses will be carried out as soon as possible, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the mechanism for the programme's implementation is being finalised, and will be announced soon.

Via an infographic shared on Facebook, Amirudin explained the initiative will focus on students in national primary and secondary schools in the state, aged 12 to 17 years old.

It will also target students in religious schools under the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, as well as Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools.

In June, the state government launched the Selvax community and industry initiatives to complete and expedite the vaccination process of state residents.

Costing over RM200 million and recognised by the federal government, Selvax has been included in the overall framework of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, which is aimed at low-income groups, the elderly, and industry workers.
