UPKK for 2020, 2021 candidates replaced with full class assessment

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24  — The written test for the Kafa Class Assessment (UPPK) for candidates in 2020 and 2021 would be replaced by a full class assessment, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Idris Ahmad.

The examination was scheduled to take place from November 15 to 18.

According to Idris, the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) would inform on the method and implementation date to replace the written test.

He said the decision would not affect the assessment of students' level of mastery of the subject studied from Year 1 to Year 6 and the opportunity to go to secondary school," he said in a statement.

“The educational performance of students can be assessed through various methods," he added.

In this regard, Idris said the Quran and Fardu Ain class (Kafa) nationwide for Standard 1 to Standard 6 students would continue through Home-based Teaching and Learning  (PdPR) until the end of the 2021 school calendar.

“Parents are urged to ensure their children follow the KAFA class via PdPR,” he added.

He said Jakim had always given serious attention to the current Covid-19 situation and developments amid the National Recovery Plan, especially from the aspect of safety of all students and KAFA teachers.

On September 12, Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin announced the re-opening of schools in stages starting October 3.
