SHAH ALAM July 30 — The Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) for the community (Selvax Community) in Bandar Baru Klang constituency provided Covid-19 vaccines to its residents and to foreigners too.

Its state assemblyman Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the Covid-19 infection does not take into account a person’s nationality as foreigners could also spread the virus.

“We have allocated vaccines for 2,600 recipients in this area during the two days programme that started Tuesday.

"As of Tuesday, a total of 1,122 residents of Bandar Baru Klang state constituency received the Covid-19 vaccine through the Selvax Community programme," he told SelangorKini.

Teng, who is also Selangor Investment, Industry and Trade, Small and Medium Industries Committee chairman, said he had also proposed that the vaccine is given to foreigners who did not have documents.

"They can also bring harm if left in the community without vaccination.

"However, this vaccination strategy will be discussed in the next (state) meeting to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases," he said.

On June 30, Selvax was launched to complement and speed up the national vaccination programme for the people in Selangor and it includes Selvax Community and Selvax Industry for the workers.

The programme would benefit 1.25 million people in the state, especially the low-income group, elders and Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat recipients.
