SHAH ALAM, June 30 — The Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) aims to achieve an additional daily vaccination capacity of 43,500 doses by setting up 22 vaccination centres (PPVs) located at community halls, mobile PPVs as well as private clinics and hospitals.

Menteri Besar, Dato’ Amirudin Shari said the efforts would be able to increase the daily vaccination capacity and shorten the targetted vaccination rate to 100 days earlier.

“It will help to achieve the vaccination target of 80 per cent among the adult population in Selangor by October this year.

“This data is aligned with what was mentioned by the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) Coordinating Minister, which is to deliver 135,000 and 165,000 doses of vaccine in July and August, respectively,” he said in a special address broadcast live on Facebook today.

According to the current vaccine rollout schedule, it is estimated that the vaccination process will only end as early as December with only half of the population receiving two doses of vaccine.

Amirudin added that under Selvax, a total of five mega PPVs; six community hall PPVs and 15 Selcare clinics will be in operation and involving around 5,000 medical and non-medical workforce.

The mega PPVs are located in the state include Tropicana Gardens Mall, Kota Damansara; Evo Mall, Bangi; Kompleks Sukan PKNS, Kelana Jaya; De Palma Hotel, Shah Alam and Aurora Mall, Bukit Jalil.

Apart from that, 1,228-panel clinics will also take part in the efforts to ramp up the immunisation process in Selangor.

“Again, I would like to emphasise that we initiated this programme to complement the vaccination process under PICK,” he added.
