SHAH ALAM, June 22 — The digitalisation efforts that has been emphasised throughout Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari’s three-year leadership as the Selangor Menteri Besar has boosted the state’s economic sector despite the challenges faced during the Covid-19 pandemic.

State executive councillor Dato’ Teng Chang Khim had cited the Grab Selangor and Platform Selangor (Plats) initiative as well as the state’s e-bazaar programmes as examples to ensure that the small businesses are able to continue generating an income.

“Since then, the state government has managed to get many small and medium entrepreneurs that have strayed away from e-commerce to go digital. This was accomplished by offering them registration vouchers and matching grants.

“The numbers speak for itself as well, where we recorded a RM2.3 billion ripple effect to the economy via the Raya and Chinese New Year e-bazaars,” said Teng in response to Amirudin’s third year anniversary as the Menteri Besar on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lim Yi Wei said Amirudin’s digitalisation push has opened up a new perspective on Selangor as a smart state.

“The Menteri Besar was very aggressive during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, many traders were able to run their businesses while state representatives are able to continue with our duties, and this is truly a smart state.

“I’m glad that the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) had taken the initiative to provide a trilingual explanation on digitalisation in order reach a wider audience,” she said.
