SHAH ALAM, June 18 — A total of 2,731 employees from Texas Instruments Malaysia Sdn Bhd became the first batch in the manufacturing sector in Selangor who were vaccinated yesterday.

Managing director, Yogannaidu Sivanchalam said the vaccines distributed to the industry can expedite herd immunity with an estimated 300 employees to receive their jabs daily until June 23.

“This is a better way to be vaccinated since our employees don’t need to go to the vaccination centre and they are happy as they don’t have to move from one place to another.

“Prior to this, they had no idea when they would get their vaccines, and now, they are confident that they will get their jabs within a week,” he told SelangorKini when contacted yesterday.

Yogannaidu said the manufacturer had previously consistently emphasised on the standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure that the factory is safe and free from Covid-19.

“Thank you to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry for fulfilling our request,” he said.

In a joint statement on June 15, the state government and Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) had mutually agreed to focus on the vaccine distribution to industrial workers and vulnerable groups including the elderly and disable persons.
