Muslims in Indonesia to celebrate Aidilfitri on Thursday

JAKARTA,  May 11 — Muslims in Indonesia will be celebrating Aidilfitri this Thursday.

Indonesian Religous Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas tonight announced through a media webinar Muslims in the country will welcome 1st of Syawal 1442 Hijrah on May 13, 2021.

The announcement was made after the Isbat (a caucus to decide on the date of 1st of Syawal) conducted through video conferencing between the officials of the ministry and members of the Indonesian legislative assembly.

Yaqut Cholil reminded Indonesians that the government has issued a ban on returning back to ancestral villages and holding open houses in celebrating Aidilfitri.

The Aidilfitri prayers in mosques only allowed in Covid-19 green with tight health standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place. Aidilfitri prayers at mosques in coronavirus red zones are forbidden.
