Indian national with travel history from Malaysia among 13 imported cases in Singapore

SINGAPORE, May 9 — A 32-year-old Indian national who has a travel history from Malaysia was among the 13 new imported cases of Covid-19 reported here Saturday, according to the republic's Ministry of Health (MOH).

In its full data released late last night, MOH said he is a Short-Term Visit Pass holder is a sea crew.

Labelled as Case 62944, the man who is asymptomatic arrived on board a vessel from Malaysia and was tested for Covid-19.

He had not disembarked except to go for Covid-19 testing, and was conveyed to the hospital when his result came back positive, said the ministry.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old Malaysian man was among the seven new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 infection reported here Saturday.

Labelled as Case 62938, the work permit holder works as a car groomer at BlackNano Pte Ltd, Bukit Batok Crescent.

“He does not typically interact with customers,” said the ministry, adding that he is a family member and household contact of four other reported cases.

The test result of the man who is asymptomatic came back positive on May 7 and his serology test result is negative.

The same man is linked to a Case 61822 cluster, a 23-year-old male Indian national who was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on April 10.

As at noon yesterday, Singapore reported a total of 20 new cases bringing the total caseload to 61,331.

So far, there have been 10 Covid-19 clusters in the republic.
