AMPANG JAYA, April 30 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has urged all parties to support the move in abolishing the Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR) examination to pave way for a new education agenda.

He said the assessments of students based on examination results has to be reformed into a new holistic approach.

“Children have been facing challenges since the spread of Covid-19 when school sessions could not run normally and this affected the examination candidates.

"The situation creates a generation that is confused or chaotic, so now is the best time for all parties to support this effort," he said to reporters after overseeing the damages to the roof of the PKNS Flats (Block E) in Taman Keramat AU2 here yesterday, following a storm on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Senior Minister (Education) Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin had announced the abolishment of the UPSR examination from this year.

Radzi said the decision was made after taking into account the views of various parties, including 1,700 participants in an engagement session with the Education Ministry (MOE).

He also announced that this year's Form Three Assessment (PT3) examination has been cancelled.
