SHAH ALAM, Jan 17 — Selangor government created its People’s Housing Programme or ‘Program Perumahan Rakyat’ (PPR) to become the best model for low-cost housing to other states.

State executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail said a model PPR focus on efficient management, good maintenance, the well-being of families and residents, security and integrated communal space.

“The dream of creating a PPR model or icon for outsiders is one of the things I emphasised on in the 100 days since I started holding the housing portfolio from October 7 last year.

“Besides that, the state government also emphasised on the aspect of strata development through the empowerment of the Commissioner of Buildings (COB) and guidance to the Joint Management Body (JMB),” she told SelangorKini.

She said the state government also introduced the SelangorKu Affordable Housing Policy (RSKU) 3.0 to replace the existing policy.

“The efforts to improve housing policy are aimed at increasing first home ownership among the people in this state,” she said.

The RSKU 2.0 policy introduced in April 2018 focuses on improving the ownership aspect, planning and implementation to benefit developers, policy implementers and homeowners.

Rumah Selangorku is sold at the price between RM42,000 to RM250,000 with a variation of five types of houses ranging in size from 700 to 1,000 square feet.
