Sungai Klang to become Selangor’s new economic hub

SHAH ALAM, Dec 25 — A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd (LLSB) and Sungai Klang Link Sdn Bhd (SKL) to implement a connectivity network project along Sungai Klang.

The MoU was signed by LLSB managing director Syaiful Azmen Nordin and SKL managing director Nazri Ismail, it was witnessed by state executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim at the Selangor Economic Action Council meeting room here yesterday.

Izham told media that Sungai Klang would become a new economic hub in Selangor in the future.

“The implementation of the Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) restores the glory of the Sungai Klang which also brings an impact to the development of Selangor and Malaysia.

"This area will also be known as a location for community activities and eco-tourism in line with the vision of the state government to create a sustainable destination area," he said.

The SMG project is a state government initiative that focusses on the rehabilitation of the Sungai Klang involving an area of ​​35,612 hectares.

The project is operated by LLSB which is a subsidiary of the Selangor's Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), the company’s three main focus are cleaning, conservation and development.

SMG is expected to revitalise the hotels, trade, tourism, housing and service industries along Sungai Klang.
