SHAH ALAM, Dec 9 — Selangor has today recorded a drop in new Covid-19 cases with 277 local infections out of the 959 cases registered nationwide, compared to yesterday’s 417 cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah said the state had registered one imported transmission in Klang from an Indonesian national.
“Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 277 cases. This is followed by Sabah with 203 cases and Kuala Lumpur at 129,” he said during a press conference on the Covid-19 developments in the country, in Putrajaya today.
Dr Noor Hisham said out of the 276 new local cases reported in Selangor today, 78 were from existing clusters, 76 cases from close-contact screenings, and 122 others from other Covid-19 screenings.
According to the data by the Selangor State Health Department’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), the Petaling district recorded the highest new daily infections with 97 cases, followed Klang (94), Hulu Langat (49), Gombak (25), Kuala Langat (5), Sepang (3), Sabak Bernam (2), while Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor each with one case.
As of noon today, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Selangor stands at 17,532 out of the nationwide total of 76,265 cases.
