MPS demolish three more illegal premises to prevent river pollution

RAWANG, Dec 8 — Three more illegal premises built on Sungai Selangor basin reserve were demolished by the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) today to prevent raw water source pollution.

The joint operation on the illegally developed premises by MPS enforcers with the District and Land Office started at 10am.

The premises that housed a heavy machinery workshop, recycling centre and cattle barn were developed illegally on state-owned land 15 years ago.

On December 1, local authorities had sealed a heavy machinery maintenance factory that operated illegally on the river’s reserve land here.

On November 24, the authorities demolished two heavy machinery storage and reparation workshops located just one metre away from Sungai Rawang.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had previously said eight illegal premises along the river banks of Sungai Rawang will be demolished.

He said the premises involve six heavy machinery workshops and two recycling factories.
