Covid-19: Two new clusters detected — Health DG

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 — Two more new Covid-19 clusters were detected in the country yesterday involving areas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

Health director-general, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the first was Malawati Cluster involving the district of Kuala Selangor with the initial positive case detected through screening on Nov 30 involving an individual with symptoms.

"Up to today, 143 people have been screened with 14 of them tested positive for the virus in this cluster," he said in a statement on Covid-19 developments yesterday.

Dr Noor Hisham said the second cluster involved the Lembah Pantai and Titiwangsa areas in Kuala Lumpur and Klang district in Selangor.

He said the two index cases in this cluster were reported to be positive for Covid-19 since December 4 through the screening of individuals with symptoms and self-screening.

“Both index cases are workers at a construction site in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur,” added.

Dr Noor Hisham said that up to today, 441 people have been screened with 35 of them tested positive in the cluster.
