GOMBAK, Nov 29 — The Selangor government has allocated RM500,000 for the construction of a bridge in Kampung Sungai Salak Batu 10, here, to ease the traffic issues faced by the local residents.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the project, which is expected to begin early January next year, marked the end to the 13-year wait by the villagers who are in need of the facility.

“The construction would take two to three months to complete and will be ready for use as early as the first quarter of next year, benefiting more than 3,000 residents.

“The bridge is estimated to be 48 metres in length and is able to support two vehicles at a time, which would reduce the traffic issues currently faced by the residents,” said Amirudin during a visit to the village here yesterday.

The Sungai Tua state assemblyman said that the development of the bridge had been postponed due to some technical issues which had been resolved.

“I had brought up the matter to the Gombak Land and District Office before the 2021 Selangor Budget was tabled.

“Although the area (Kampung Sungai Salak Batu 10) is not my area, I hold dearly the welfare of the folks living in Gombak. Hence, I hope the community would look after the facility here properly for the benefit of everyone here,” he added.
