SHAH ALAM, Nov 23 — The Selangor Security Council Committee will meet today following the surge in Covid-19 cases in the state, says the Menteri Besar.

Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the meeting will scrutinise steps to be taken in dealing with the recent developments.

“Today (yesterday) Selangor hit a new record high of 603 new Covid-19 cases, with a large number of the infections detected from the Teratai Cluster, which saw 504 cases.

“A total of 480 cases have been identified from the cluster through the screenings conducted at the area placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), which has 5,000 residents and most are non-locals,” he said via a Twitter post last night.

Yesterday, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor had recorded the highest in the number of daily cases for two consecutive days. The daily cases of 603 were two-fold the cases recorded in Sabah, which saw 311 infections.

On Saturday, Selangor registered 402 new Covid-19 infections.

Meanwhile, the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) reported that to date, the accumulated figure of Covid-19 cases in the state stands at 9,752.
