KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 — Malaysia recorded 1,114 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative figure for positive cases to 46,209, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said the number of active cases stands at 12,131 while there were 803 recoveries in the 24-hour period up to noon today, raising the total number of recovered cases to 33,772.
Dr Noor Hisham said 1,112 of the new cases were local transmissions while two were imported.
Sabah continued to record the highest number of local transmission cases with 391, followed by Negeri Sembilan (371), Selangor (199), Perak (53), Penang (34), Kuala Lumpur (13) and Johor (15).
“The other states (with new cases) are Kedah with 10 cases, Labuan (eight), Melaka (six), Kelantan (five), Sarawak (three) and Putrajaya (four),” he said in a statement on Covid-19 updates today.
The imported cases involved a Malaysian and a foreigner who arrived from Indonesia and Jordan.
Dr Noor Hisham said two fatalities were reported today, both in Sabah, raising the Covid-19 death toll to 306.
He said one death involved a 78-year-old woman who was admitted to Hospital Queen Elizabeth and had a history of osteoarthritis.
The other death was of a 51-year-old man who was treated at the same hospital and had a history of chronic high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney problems, he added.
A total of 103 cases are still being treated in the intensive care unit, with 43 requiring ventilator support.
