SHAH ALAM, Oct 27 — The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department has carried out sanitisation exercises at 916 locations, including 600 premises belonging to government agencies and public markets, from March this year until today.

Its director Norazam Khamis said the disinfection process to curb the spread of Covid-19 was also carried out at buildings that had recorded no cases of coronavirus.

"However our priority is on areas that have high numbers of visitors where the risk of infection is greater.

"So far, many of the sanitising processes were conducted in the Petaling district, followed by Hulu Langat and Klang," he told reporters after a sanitisation process at the Anggerik Mall Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) here today.

Norazam said the firemen had adhered to the standard operating procedures (SOP) during all of the sanitisation operations.

"Among the SOP include cleaning the soles of their shoes with bleach before the operation and later spraying their body with the same substance after the operation.

"Each fireman has their own role to ensure that the operation is carried out effectively and does not cause any harm," he said.
