Covid-19: 11 new cases, five imported — Health DG

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 10 — A total of 11 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Malaysia today, including five imported ones involving Malaysians, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said the other six cases were local transmissions, involving five Malaysians and a foreigner.

“For the imported cases, three were from Australia, and one each was from Japan and Singapore.

“For the local transmission cases, one case was detected in Johor, three were detected in Perak involving the Kurau cluster, one was confirmed in Melaka and one involves a non-citizen in Selangor,” he said at a press conference on Covid-19 today.

Dr Noor Hisham said another 19 cases had been discharged, bringing the cumulative figure for recoveries to 8,803, or 96.8 per cent of the total number of positive cases.

Only one case was still being treated in the intensive care unit and there were no patients on ventilator support, he added.

He said no fatalities were reported today, keeping the death toll at 125.
