Daily Covid-19 cases back to single-digit, 16 recoveries recorded

SHAH ALAM, June 29 — Malaysia has recorded a single-digit increase in new Covid-19 cases with three infections as of noon today, after registering double digits for two consecutive days.

This pushes the total accumulated figure to 8,637 cases.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the three daily cases included an imported case and two local transmissions in which all cases involved Malaysian citizens.

He said the local infections were detected from a pre-screening procedure for blood cancer treatment in Selangor and the other from a workplace screening at a market in Sandakan, Sabah.

“A total of 16 recoveries were recorded, bringing the total recoveries to 8,334 or a 96.5 recovery rate.

“Four Covid-19 patients are currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, with one requiring respiratory aid,” he said at a press briefing on the Covid-19 situation held at the Health Ministry in Putrajaya, today.

No deaths were reported since June 12, leaving the death toll at 121.
