SHAH ALAM, June 2 — Restaurant operators and eateries are urged to be firm when advising its customers to follow the guidelines and standard operating procedure (SOP) underlined during the conditional movement control order (CMCO), says the Shah Alam deputy mayor.
Mohd Rashidi Ruslan said the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA)l had received several complaints on SOP non-compliance, such as allowing more than two people seated at a table while dining-in.
He said customers can also face legal action from the authorities if they do not observe the guidelines imposed.
“Both businesses and customers are required to cooperate in following the SOP to ensure that the Covid-19 chain of infection is broken.
“The leeway given by the government has to be carefully observed as we continue on with the new normal,” he told a press conference after an inspection operation on restaurants and eateries, here today.
Meanwhile, two eateries were ordered to temporarily close for 14 days for violating the SOP, following the operation held at the Section 19 business centre, here.
The action was taken under the Control of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 as the restaurant operators have failed to keep the premises clean, did not use the Selangor SELangkah contact tracing system, and did not practice social distancing.
The operation, with the cooperation of the Shah Alam District Police, had involved 117 enforcement officers.
