SHAH ALAM, May 30 — The Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department will begin remedial works on strengthening the slope at a landslide area that affected seven houses in Taman Kelab Ukay, Bukit Antarabangsa, today.
Selangor Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the repairs would cost a total RM400,000.
In a statement today, he said the Housing and Local Government Ministry had allocated a sum of RM2 million for a retaining wall to be immediately built by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ).
"I have visited the affected landslide area in Taman Kelab Ukay, Hulu Klang after chairing the Covid-19 Management Coordination Meeting in Shah Alam, earlier this morning.
"The state government had also called MPAJ and relevant parties to discuss immediately on a long term solution," he said in the statement.
Amirudin said seven double-storey terrace homes were implicated and some 40 residents were directed to vacate their homes for six months.
"The occupants would be temporarily housed at the Hotel De Palma, Ampang for free for one week," the statement read.
Earlier, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department was alerted of the incident at 2.21am and arrived at the scene at 2.33am.
The landslide was reported to have occurred following continuous rain, resulting in soil movement in the area.
