KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 — The following is the afternoon update from the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (MCMC) Quick Response Team on countering fake news related to Covid-19 on social media.

1. The Ministry of Education (KPM) has dismissed a social media viral statement that schools will reopen only for Form 5 and Form 6 students in 2020 while the other students and pupils will resume their schooling session in 2021. KPM emphasises that it will issue an official statement if there is an announcement on the date of the reopening of schools.

2. Mohd Faizal Abdul Manap, chairman of the Kuala Pilah (Negeri Sembilan) District Disaster Management Committee, has dismissed a social media viral message that new Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in the Kuala Pilah Wet Market linked to the poultry farm in Pedas, Rembau.
