SHAH ALAM, May 7 — The total number of recoveries recorded from Covid-19 is at 74 as of noon today, which exceeded the number of new confirmed cases.
This brings the total recoveries to 4,776 or translated to 73.9 per cent of the accumulated cases.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 39 new cases were registered today, where one was an imported case and the remaining 38 are local transmissions. Eight of those were from the cluster and locality under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).
The total Covid-19 tally in Malaysia now is 6,467.
"A total of 19 positive Covid-19 cases are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and eight of them require respiratory aid," he told a press briefing on Covid-19 at the Health Ministry in Putrajaya, today.
There were no deaths reported and the death toll remains at 107.
On behalf of the ministry, Dr Noor Hisham had also wished the Buddhists in Malaysia a Happy Wesak Day, especially for the health workers and frontliners.
He said though mass gatherings and open houses are not allowed the festive season was still celebrated in the new normal.
