SHAH ALAM, May 1 — The daily recorded Covid-19 cases has increased by 69, which outnumbers the number of recoveries as of noon today, which stands at 39.
This pushes the cumulative confirmed cases to 6,071 with 4,210 patients fully discharged, or a 69.3 per cent recovery rate.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the total new cases, 12 were imported cases while the remaining 57 cases are local infections.
“A total of 37 patients are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, where 14 require respiratory aid” he said in a press briefing on the Covid-19 update at the Health Ministry in Putrajaya, today.
Dr Noor Hisham said one death was registered, bringing the death toll to 103.
He said the death had involved case 5,441, a 66-year-old Malaysian man who had cancer.
“He had close contact with a Covid-19 positive case (case 4,818) and was treated in Kuala Lumpur Hospital April 14. He was pronounced dead on yesterday at 4pm,” said Dr Noor Hisham.
