SHAH ALAM, April 29 — Malaysia recorded a slight increase in new Covid-19 cases, which involves Malaysians, including students, who have returned home from Indonesia.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the total 94 daily cases registered, 72 were imported cases.
“This means as of noon today, the country has recorded only 22 locally transmitted infections," he said during the press conference on Covid-19 at the Health Ministry (MOH) in Putrajaya today.
Dr Noor said the accumulated confirmed cases nationwide are 5,945, with a total of 1,758 active cases.
He said the number of recoveries stood at 55, bringing the total of discharged patients to 4,087, or a 68.75 recovery rate.
Forty patients are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, with 18 requiring respiratory aids.
Dr Noor Hisham added that no new death was reported today. The death toll remains at 100.
