Close to 4,000 Covid-19 total recoveries, 40 daily cases recorded

SHAH ALAM, April 27 — Malaysia continues to record a higher number of recoveries from Covid-19 compared to new infections.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said a total of 95 Covid-19 recoveries were registered as of noon today, bringing the total tally to 3,957, or a 67.9 recovery rate.

The number of new confirmed Covid-19 cases is 40, pushing the accumulated confirmed cases to 5,820. There are 1,764 total active cases.

“A total of 37 patients are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 17 of them require respiratory aid,” he said during the press conference on Covid-19 at the Health Ministry (MOH) in Putrajaya today.

Dr Noor Hisham said one fatality was reported, bringing the death toll to 99, which translated to 1.7 per cent fatality rate.

"The death involved a 78-year-old Malaysian man (case number 4,087) who had a history of stroke, high blood pressure and diabetes. He was treated in Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Johor on April 7 and was declared dead today at 4.31 am," he added.
