SHAH ALAM, April 26 — A total of recoveries were recorded as of noon today, which is twice the total of 38 new confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham said this pushes the total recoveries to 3,862 or translated to 66.8 per cent.

He said the total accumulated cases in Malaysia is 5,780 with 1,820 active cases.

No fatalities were reported today, which means the death toll remains at 98.

"A total of 36 patients are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 15 of them require respiratory aid,” he said during the press conference on Covid-19 at the Health Ministry (MOH) in Putrajaya today.

Dr Noor Hisham said the Health Ministry had increased its screening capacity in detecting the positive Covid-19 cases to enable early isolation and treatment of the patients, especially those in the high-risk groups using the targetted approach.

The efforts are in cooperation with other government agencies and NGOs.

“So far, we have successfully detected more positive Covid-19 cases through this targetted approach,” he said.
