SINGAPORE, April 17 — Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 623 cases of Covid-19 infection in the city-state, the majority of whom are foreign workers who live in dormitories.
With the latest development, the republic's tally now stands at 5,050 cases.
In a statement here, MOH said 25 more patients have been discharged, bringing the number of fully recovered to 708.
“We are still working through the details of these (new) cases, and further updates will be shared via the MOH press release that will be issued later tonight,” it said.
As at noon Thursday (April 16), Singapore reported 568 imported cases, 1,170 cases linked to the community that include work pass holders who reside outside the dorms while 2,689 were from the affected dorms.
There are currently not less than 20 affected dorms with 12 gazetted as isolation areas.
Meanwhile, there are about 70 positive cases involving Malaysians with about 19 having fully recovered.
About 10 of them are linked to six clusters that include two dorms namely Tech Park Crescent and S11 @Punggol, as well as Mustafa Centre, SingPost, a hostel at Jalan Kubor, and a fast-food outlet.
