SHAH ALAM, April 13 — Malaysia has recorded more Covid-19 recoveries than new cases as of noon today.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 168 patients have fully recovered from the disease, pushing the total recoveries to 2,276 or a recovery rate of 47.23 per cent of the total positive cases.
He said the country registered 134 new positive Covid-19 cases, bringing the accumulated cases to 4,817.
“A total of 66 patients are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 36 of them require respiratory aid,” he said during the press conference on Covid-19 at the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Putrajaya today.
Dr Noor Hisham said one fatality was reported, bringing the death toll to 77, which translated to 1.6 per cent fatality rate.
The death involved Case 2,797, who was a 62-year-old Malaysian man with a history of heart and kidney disease as well as high blood pressure.
The victim was treated in Melaka Hospital on March 31. He was declared dead today at 9.15am.
