SHAH ALAM, April 11 — A total of 153 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered as of noon today, bringing the total tally to 4,683.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 113 patients have recovered and allowed to return home, pushing the total recovery to 2,108, or 45 per cent out of the total number of cases.
"A total of 66 patients are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 37 of them require respiratory aid," he told the media today in a broadcasted daily briefing on Covid-19 at the Health Ministry in Putrajaya, today.
Dr Noor Hisham said three Covid-19 fatalities were reported, bringing the death toll in the country to 76, or 1.62 per cent out of the total number of cases.
The reported three deaths are as follow:
- Case 4,531: A 54-year-old Malaysian man, who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney problem. He received treatment at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Negri Sembilan on April 11. He was pronounced dead today at 1.50am.
- Case 3,469: A 90-year-old Malaysian man, who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. He received treatment at the Taiping Hospital in Perak on April 1 and was pronounced dead today at 5.23am.
- Case 4,314: A 47-year-old Malaysian woman who had a history of high blood pressure. She received treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital on April 8. She was pronounced dead today at 7.36am.
