SHAH ALAM, April 11 — A total of 184 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered as of noon today, bringing the total tally to 4,530.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the number of daily recoveries had involved 165 patients, pushing the total recovery to 1,995, or 44.04 per cent out of the total number of cases.
"A total of 72 patients are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 38 of them require respiratory aid," he told the media today in a broadcasted daily briefing on Covid-19 at the Health Ministry in Putrajaya, today.
Dr Noor Hisham said three Covid-19 fatalities were reported, bringing the death toll in the country to 73, or 1.61 per cent.
The reported three deaths are as follow:
- Case 3,091: A 66-year-old Malaysian man, who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and gout. He had close contact with a Covid-19 patient from the Seri Petaling cluster (case 452). He received treatment at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Negri Sembilan on April 1. He was pronounced dead today at 12.05pm.
- Case 537: A 71-year-old Malaysian man, who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. He received treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital on March 15, and was pronounced dead today at 11.15am.
- Case 2,399: A 63-year-old Malaysian man who had a history of high blood pressure. He received treatment at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh on March 25. He was pronounced dead today at 12pm.
