SHAH ALAM, April 1 — The highest recorded number of recovery from Covid-19 was revealed today with a total of 236 cases.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the total number of patients recovered and discharged to 1,241, or 32.72 per cent out of the total cases.
He said 131 new positive Covid-19 cases were recorded as of noon today, bringing the total to 3,793.
"A total of 102 positive Covid-19 cases are still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 54 of them require respiratory aid," he told the media in a broadcasted daily briefing on Covid-19 at the Health Ministry in Putrajaya, today.
Dr Noor Hisham said there was one Covid-19 fatality, bringing the death toll in the country to 62, or 1.63 per cent out of the total cases.
The death had involved cases 3,663, who was a 67-year-old Malaysian man with a history of diabetes and high blood pressure.
The deceased also had close contact with several Covid-19 patients (cases 1,265, 1,266, 1,267, 1,404, and 2,549) who had all attended the Seri Petaling tabligh gathering.
He received treatment at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Terengganu and was pronounced dead on April 5 at 10.22am
