SHAH ALAM, April 3 — Another 217 new Covid-19 positive cases were recorded as of noon today, bringing the total cases to 3,333, says Health director-general Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In a press conference today, Dr Hisham said 60 patients have recovered from Covid-19 and discharged, bringing the total recoveries to 827, or 24.8 per cent out of the total number of cases.
A total of 108 cases are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 54 of those needed ventilators.
Dr Noor Hisham said a total of three new deaths were reported today, pushing the death toll to 53.
The reported three deaths are as follow:
- Case 2,561: A 84-year-old Malaysian woman, who had a history of a heart attack. She had received treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital on March 12 and was then transferred to the National Heart Institute (IJN). She was pronounced dead at 1.07pm yesterday.
- Case 2,122: A 52-year-old Malaysian man. He was treated at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Negeri Sembilan on March 18. He was pronounced dead today at 7.55am.
- Case 2,034: A 73-year-old Malaysian woman, who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack and kidney disease. She was treated at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Perak on March 24 and was pronounced dead today at 9.30am.
