Selangor police detain 364 for disobeying MCO

SHAH ALAM, March 31 — Selangor police have detained 364 individuals in the state for violating the movement control order (MCO) between March 18 and 30.

Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said the arrests involved 350 men and 14 women.

"We received 409 police reports involving MCO offence. Of this, 191 cases were investigated and 364 people were picked up by the state police," he said in a statement yesterday.

Arjunaidi said out of the total arrests, eight cases have been charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duties and Section 7(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.

He advised the public to adhere to the MCO directive and to not to cause any problems.

Arjunaidi also pointed out that the state-contingent is satisfied with the public's compliance in Selangor.

"So far, everything has been smooth in the state in regards to the order and we thank the public for their continuous attempt in observing the MCO.

"We found that the public has been very cooperative with the Armed Forces, Rela, and other agencies as well," he said.
