Covid-19 death toll in Malaysia rises to 37, also sees highest daily recovery

SHAH ALAM, March 30 — Two Covid-19 fatalities were reported in Malaysia as of noon today, bringing the death toll in the country to 37 so far.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 156 new cases were reported, bringing the total number of positive cases in Malaysia to 2,626.

At a press briefing on Covid-19 today, Dr Noor Hisham said 91 patients have recovered and been discharged as of today, raising the number of fully recovered cases to 479 so far.

“A total of 94 positive Covid-19 cases are still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 62 of them require respiratory aid,” he told the media today.

Dr Noor Hisham said the reported two deaths are as follow:

  • Case 1,941: A 47-year-old Malaysian man. He received treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital on March 23 and was pronounced dead today at 8.10 am.
  • Case 2,471: A 46-year-old Malaysian woman with a history of high blood pressure and autoimmune disease. She was treated at the Miri Hospital in Sarawak and was pronounced dead today at 9.02 am.
